The iPhone 12 is now available to pre-order from Apple

On October 13, Apple finally launched its new iPhone, via its virtual Apple event. And on October 16, the first mobiles will be pre-ordered on Apple’s website.

So what’s new with the iPhone 12?

5G… of course

As usual, a lot of information had already been leaked regarding the new phone. But the biggest talk on the streets was probably that they finally get support for 5G. Apple was not shy when talking about how well 5G will work in their iPhone 12. According to them, the iPhone 12 will have the widest support for different 5G bands of all existing smartphones. In addition, it has a Smart Data Mode, which means that if the 5G network does not give the user any advantage, the phone will switch to the LTE band instead, to save battery.

MagSafe

MagSafe was the magnet system that made sure to keep the charging cable in place on MacBooks, in addition, it made sure that the computer did not fall to the floor if you happened to yank on the cord. This popular feature has now been recreated in iPhone 12. Here, the system will hold the phone in place when you put it on a wireless charger and thus avoid that you happen to put it on wrong so that the phone is not charged.

No adapter

Yes, you read that right. iPhone 12 does not come with an included adapter. The same now applies to the 11th and XR. For me, who misplaces these every now and then, this is less good news. The cable itself will still be included though, a small plus.

New old design

Apple has gone back to the flatter edges that were in previous models, something that is welcomed by many.

The screen has a new material that should be more rugged than previous versions. According to Apple itself, it should be “tougher than any smartphone glass”. Whether this is true remains to be seen. The standard 12 and mini version will come in white, black, blue, green and red. The Pro version and Pro Max come in silver, gold, graphite and Pacific Blue.

The phone comes in four different sizes:

  • iPhone 12 mini – 5.4 inches
  • iPhone 12: 6.1 inches
  • iPhone 12 Pro: 6.1 inches
  • iPhone 12 Pro Max: 6.7 inches

iPhone 12 comes with an A14 Bionic chip that will make the phone faster. The phone will be available with 46 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB storage. It also has Wi-Fi 6 with MIMO and a battery that is said to last for 15 hours!

Camera

The camera in iPhone 12 gets AR capacity and a new LiDAR scanner makes it faster to autofocus in dark environments. Now you can also take portraits in Night mode. Support for HDR video is also included in this new version.

All in all, the iPhone 12 feels like a good upgrade from its representatives. If you have $999 lying around, you can pre-order an iPhone 12 Pro on apple.com today.
