6 hidden easter eggs in your iPhone you probably didn't know about

Ok I know, easter is some good time away. But I’d argue that an easter egg hunt in the tech world isn’t bound to one just occasion. So, in this post we’re going on a hunt for some of Apple’s hidden easter eggs in your iPhone.

1. Book emoji text

The book emoji probably isn’t one of the most popular emojis. But did you know that the little scribbles on the pages are actually a legit text? This easter egg is actually a famous quote from Rob Siltanen that was used in Apple’s Think Different campaign.

The full text reads: “Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”

2. The Voice Memo icon is the word Apple

Ever used the voice memo app? The icon is actually the image when you record the word “Apple” on the app. This is definitely one of the easter eggs you have to try yourself to believe!

3. The Clock app icon is a real clock

This may come as a surprise to some, but the clock icon isn’t a regular icon. It’s actually a working clock that points out hours and minutes. I actually had to check this out myself and was pretty surprised that I’ve never noticed that the cursors actually move.

4.  Spot Steve Jobs

If you’re browsing recipes online and want to save something to make for next week’s meal prep, you’ll most likely save it to your reading list. When you do this, you’ll see that the little icon is a pair of glasses. These aren’t any regular glasses though. They’re actually a replica of Apple’s late founder Steve Jobs’ own iconic round pair.

5. Search for songs using lyrics only

When you can only remember the lyrics of a song, Shazam can have a hard time picking up what you’re trying to sing unless you have a pitch perfect voice. Luckily, Apple Music has the answer. This easter egg allows you to use the search bar in the app to look for songs using only the lyrics.

6. Siri is full of easter eggs

We already knew that Siri is pretty witty. But there are actually tons of ester eggs hidden here in terms of what you can get Siri to say.

For example;

  •  If you ask Siri for a pickup line. She’ll tell you “Is your name Bluetooth? Because I’m really feeling the connection”.
  • Or if you ask Siri to “Repeat after me”, she will say “If this is some sort of pledge, my End User License Agreement forbids it”.
  • If you tell Siri she’s boring, she will say “I’m juggling flaming swords right now. You just can’t see it”.

Hope you find this post a little uplifting now that it’s getting a little dark outside. Have you found any eater eggs we don’t know about? Feel free to comment them down below and share your tips!
